In kinesiology, we work with the body to uncover what pain and other uncomfortable issues are trying to tell us. The body does not have a voice, other than letting us know all is not well by giving us feelings of pain or discomfort.
This is often because we are doing something that is causing us to experience this or holding in some emotional feelings such as anger or distress. It could even be as simple as drinking too much coffee, so we could get a headache, feel moody and have heartburn, because we are actually dehydrated. When we have a feeling of peace and inner calm, it may be when all is right in our world, or from just playing with our children or going for a walk in the fresh air.
We can experience this for ourselves by thinking happy thoughts, and seeing where we feel this in our body, then thinking about something that has really annoyed us, then about something that has upset us. Each may be experienced somewhere different in your body. This is your inner body language.
When we have pains and discomfort in our body, it can be our body is reflecting back to us, what is going on for us in our world. In other words, say you have been arguing with your partner and you keep getting various aches. It literally could be your body expressing physically, what is going on in your inner world – your senses, your feelings, and your emotions.
You may not be saying it aloud, but your body is shouting out that there is an issue. Its then you can start to listen to your body and taking control of your own feelings, own needs and own life.
Teeth for instance can be sending you a message - what decisions are you putting off making?
Knee pain can indicate that you are concerned with your direction in life, about moving forward.
Any issues on the right side of the body implies that your logic, your masculine self is concerned, your left side relates to your creative side, your feminine. Any area of pain could be linked to how you feel about a person in your life or even old unresolved issues relating back to your childhood, even concerning your parents.
So, for instance if your parents broke up when you were young, and you felt torn between them or felt more drawn to loving one parent or another - could mean later on the other side of the body has more issues. Internal arguments occur when we have heard lots of arguing going on between different people around us. So later on, you may not be great at making your own mind up, swayed between two possibilities, unsure what to do.
This is to do with the brain and the side of the body it controls. Which side of the body the issue is stemming from can give a clue as to what is aggravating your issue, or the hidden fears your body maybe expressing. This in turn leads to imbalance.
In kinesiology we work towards helping your body to release the trapped in issues that lead to imbalance. Imbalance leads to discomfort and pain. Initially emotional pain hurts inside us, it hurts our feelings, after years of neglect (meaning you don't do anything about these feelings) this old hurt could turn into something more physical, whether this is IBS, headaches, neck pain etc.
Given time and more neglect of these old hurts (totally ignoring the past), may end up as disease. In the world of natural health disease is often regarded as dis-ease - so the lack of ease in the body. 'Dis' is seen as disrespectful in our modern world. Disease and the way it can rampage through our body certainly shows no respect.
Working on old past hurts, traumas, grief, bullying, losses, sadness etc really does need to be looked at, reviewed and let go off. People think it's going to hurt, but you already went through that hurt and survived.
